Meridian Loom is designed to process data on your device. This page describes what the app accesses, why, and how it's stored.

Sensor data

Meridian Loom uses your iPhone's magnetometer to determine word selection during a session. Magnetometer readings are processed on-device in real time and are not stored as raw sensor data or transmitted anywhere.

Meridian Loom does not access the barometer.

Meridian Loom does not access the microphone or camera.

Location data

Location is not accessed unless you enable it for session logging. When enabled, Meridian Loom records both the precise coordinates and a human-readable place name for a session, for your own reference in the session transcript. This information is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to the developer or any third party.

You can disable location access at any time in your device's iOS settings.

Session data and transcripts

Session transcripts — including surfaced words, timestamps, and any notes or location data you've added — are stored locally on your device using on-device storage. Meridian Loom does not operate a server and does not upload session data.

If you export a transcript as a PDF, that file is saved or shared only to the destination you choose (such as Files, Mail, or another app on your device). Meridian Loom does not retain a copy or transmit it elsewhere.

Deleting a session from within the app removes it from local storage. Deleting the app removes all locally stored session data.

Purchases

The vocabulary expansion is a one-time in-app purchase processed through Apple's App Store. Meridian Loom does not collect or store payment information — this is handled entirely by Apple. Purchase status is stored locally on your device so the expanded vocabulary remains available across sessions.

Analytics and third parties

The Meridian Loom app does not use analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or any third-party SDKs. No usage or investigation data is collected or transmitted by the developer from within the app.

This website, meridianloom.com, is separate from the app and uses a basic traffic-analytics script to understand how the site is used. It does not have access to, and never receives, any session or investigation data from the app.

Children's privacy

Meridian Loom is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
